FHV presents research on AI and sustainability at KONVENS 2025

18.09.2025
New German-language dataset for Tabular Question Answering presented.

Computer Science student Staša Karapandžić presented a research paper together with Senior Scientist Michael Hellwig, both from the FHV, at the NLP4Sustain Workshop of the 21st Conference on Natural Language Processing (KONVENS 2025) in Hildesheim.

Under the title "A German-Language Dataset and Annotation Tool for Tabular Question Answering", the authors present the construction of a German-language dataset and the development of an annotation tool. The dataset enables the targeted training of AI language models that can answer questions about tabular data - such as sustainability reports or other structured company data. The work thus creates an important basis for the development of German-language NLP systems that can deal with table content in text-based question-answer scenarios.

The work was developed as part of the Josef Ressel Center for Robust Decisions at the FHV's Business Informatics research centre and is available online via the ACL Anthology: View publication
