FHV recognised as a frontrunner in digital student mobility in Europe

09.09.2025
The European Commission selected 32 higher education institutions from across Europe as Champions – among them FHV Vorarlberg University of Applied Sciences.

On 9 September 2025, the new ESCI Champions 2025–2027 held their kick-off meeting at the University of Gothenburg.

The European Student Card Initiative (ESCI) is a flagship project to make student mobility in Europe simpler, smarter, and more connected. It builds on three main pillars: Erasmus Without Paper (EWP), the European Student Card (ESC), and the Erasmus+ App.

As an ESCI Champion, FHV is committed to sharing its expertise in the digitalisation of Erasmus processes, supporting other higher education institutions, and actively contributing to the further roll-out of the initiative. At the kick-off meeting in Gothenburg, discussions focused on digitalisation workflows in the next Erasmus programme, targets for 2026 and 2027, and how Champions can support peers in adopting ESCI.

"For us, being named a Champion is both recognition and responsibility,” says Anja Sieghartsleitner, Assistant Head of the International Office. “We want to show that even a small institution like FHV can set European standards in digitalisation through dedicated commitment."

Over the next two years, FHV will contribute its expertise at national and European level through events, peer learning sessions, and workshops – with the aim of making digital Erasmus mobility even smoother for all students.
