GET-AHED
Strengthening sustainability at universities
GET-AHED is an Erasmus+ funded project that aims to support higher education institutions (HEIs) in their “green transition” through a dedicated online platform – in the areas of teaching, infrastructure and sustainability initiatives.
The focus was on the development of a freely accessible digital platform that enables higher education institutions to systematically assess their activities in the areas of sustainability and environmental awareness, further develop them, and embed them in the long term across all areas. The University Greening Toolbox is aimed at leadership, academic and administrative staff, as well as students – thereby promoting comprehensive engagement across all levels.
A central element of the Toolbox is a self-assessment that allows higher education institutions to identify their current strengths and areas for development precisely. Based on this analysis, tailored training sessions, case studies and best practices are then suggested to support strategic further development. In this way, a targeted and practice-oriented pathway is created to implement sustainability measures effectively.
Within the project, we were particularly responsible for the collection and preparation of best practices and case studies relating to energy consumption, circular economy and sustainability. These examples from the higher education sector feed directly into the Toolbox and provide higher education institutions with concrete, tried-and-tested approaches to reducing their ecological footprint and advancing sustainable campus development.
“The open-source platform created offers tools for reflection, training and best practices that support higher education institutions on their path towards sustainability. It addresses the different stakeholder groups, from students and staff to management.” Elias Eder
