Course content

Two to three topics based on research articles and/or textbook chapters, e.g:

  • Mixed Integer Linear Programming
  • Direct search methods
  • Randomised Search Methods
  • Dynamic and Uncertain Optimisation
  • Multi-objective optimisation
  • Application from the energy and climate domain
Learning outcomes

After the course, the students will be familiar with selected current topics in the area of "Efficient Systems". Through the course they have obtained a detailed assessment of their advantages and disadvantages and can apply the learned methods to practical problems. The students can use the presented methods

  • present their basic idea and describe their mode of operation in detail
  • apply on the computer to practical examples
  • critically with regard to their robustness, their computational complexity, their information expenditure and their use.
