Course content
  • The iterative alternation of problem / analysis and solution / synthesis is characteristic of design processes. As part of this course, the students familiarize themselves with various design techniques and instruments.
  • By analyzing examples and designing your own projects, you will learn how design solutions unfold parallel to the content-related discussion, from the idea to the concept and implementation.
  • Presentation of various visualization methods: Instruments such as the “sketch” support the generation of ideas, as they sharpen perception, bring ideas into their first form and thus enable reflection and further development.
  • The students are able to apply design techniques in the context of projects in this semester (design project 2).
Learning outcomes
  • The students know different process models of design.
  • They are able to record observations and share them with other people.
  • The students can translate ideas and concepts into a form that other people can perceive.
  • They are familiar with the »sketch« as a finding tool that brings ideas into their first form and thus enables reflection and further development.
  • The students know different visualization methods and try them out in exercises and their own projects. You are able to use these different communication requirements accordingly.
  • They are able to grasp the essentials of a concept and to communicate it - according to the requirements of different stakeholder groups.
  • They are familiar with the iterative alternation of problem / analysis and solution / synthesis, which is characteristic of design processes.
  • They are familiar with how various design techniques can be used in the design process.
