Community Development

The increasing socio-ecological crisis of our time requires sustainable local and regional development strategies and approaches in order to succeed in the upcoming ecosocial turnaround. Local and regional action takes place in global responsibility. The framework for this is provided by the 2030 Agenda with its 17 goals for sustainable development - the Sustainable Development Goals, SDGs.

Community Development is a strategy of participatory development of local and regional areas in cooperation with the local population. Community Development is a democratizing "bottom-up" approach to promote disadvantaged areas and groups.

Interdisciplinary Research

We conduct interdisciplinary research in Community Development, integrating approaches and methods from Social Work, Social and Economic Sciences, and International Development. Of particular interest to the research group are applied research projects with an impulse-giving and participatory character, as well as evaluations of community development projects and measures.
