This seminar introduces into the methodology of social sciences. Students acquire competencies following processes and results of scientific research in empirical studies in the field of social sciences. They are empowered by these competencies to reflect empirical studies and to understand and to discuss their results.
Students acquire basic knowledge of qualitative and quantitative research in the field of social sciences and use it in exercises.They get an overview on methods and procedures of qualitative and quantitative surveys and on analyses of social data. Students know the differences of methods and are able to value them. Beyond that they read and interpret statistics from different academic surveys.
